Thanks for returning to my blog. So what did you all think about CRISPR-Cas9, sounds pretty cool right? It’s going to be a real game changer and that’s a fact, not just my opinion. It’s clearly already started to change the outlook for so many people and I’m really looking forward to seeing how the techniques evolve in 2016.
Right, as it’s the start of a new year and the rumours are in full swing about the latest mobile models due in 2016, I thought I’d turn attention towards the smartphone market. It’s always a fun subject to talk about as technology just gets crazier each year a new line of models is released. I’ve compiled a brief list of some of the mobiles we can expect to see within the next 12 months and a few of their key specs.
ASUS Z1 Titan
It’s great to see a healthy market at the minute that’s not just taken-up by Samsung, Apple and a couple of others. ASUS did a cracking job last time around with the Zenfone 2 and surprised everybody. The 4GB model was a real hit. It’s still being tweaked so there’s only rumours trickling through at the moment. Expect a dual-flash 16-Mp camera. The screen will be 5.5-inch 2k Amoled screen with corning gorilla glass 5. The most eye-catching of the specs leaked is the 6GB of RAM. On top of that, there’s a 256GB ROM. Can’t wait to have a go on this phone. The specs have seriously been upped since last year and I think we’re going to see a real strong competition for top spot.
I’m a big fan of HTC and they’ve done some solid phones over the last few years. The latest model is due out in a few months. It’s going to sport the impressive Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip with a 1,440 x 2,560 display. There’s expected to be 4GB of RAM and a 64GB or 128GB model to choose from. The reported 27-megapixel camera at the rear is what’s getting my attention, that sounds ridiculous!
Samsung Galaxy Note 6
If you thought the HTC sounded like it had a ridiculous camera, then the Note 6 has two of them. The rear is 30MP and the front facing 16MP. You’ll get 6GB as standard but that can be upgraded to a whopping 8GB if so desired. The battery has huge power at 4700mAh which will be needed with the kind of specs it’s expected to have. The Exynos 9 Octa processor sounds awesome, s does the 5.5-inch 4K display. You’ll be able to have up to 256GB of storage according to reports. This is definitely winning so far in my find although I doubt it will come cheap.
Samsung Galaxy S7
I had to quickly mention another Samsung, the S7 as we’ve got so used to comparing the latest of the S-series with the latest Apple. This is expected to have a 4k or possibly even 5k amoled screen. It may also have 5g compatibility. Under the hood expect similar to the Note but the RAM options are either 4GB or 8GB.
Apple iPhone 7
As I just mentioned, you have to have the latest Apple in your review otherwise it wouldn’t feel right. The iPhone 7 will have an upgraded Apple A10 chipset with iOS 10 installed. Not too much else to report at the moment but it’s not expected to have the same kind of impact this year due to the strong competition from other manufactures. Will be interesting to see if any of the faithful iPhone fans decide to jump ship.
Sony Xperia Z6
The new Sony sounds pretty promising. It will have the 820 chipset or true OcTa-Core 3Ghz+ processor. A 5-inch 4k display with 27MP rotator camera. Upto 5GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It will be dustproof, waterproof and shockproof which is something I haven’t seen boasted by other manufactures. Sounds like the real deal and certainly a contender. Check out the full specs list on their website.
Microsoft Lumia 940 XL
You’ll get a 1440 x 2560 pixel QHD 5.7-inch screen and a 940 XL Hexa-Core Snapdragon 808. 3GB of RAM, a 20MP camera and Windows 10 installed. Sounds like a decent phone and will be ideal for Windows users but for me, the other manufacturers have more powerful and more attractive handsets.
There’s definitely some more phones worthy of a mention but these are a handful of the one’s I’ve come across whilst looking around the net. Hope you enjoyed the write-up and keep me posted if anyone decides to go for one of the models I mentioned. Would love a first-hand review. I actually bought a Zenfone 2 4GB model second-hand and near enough new last year for a great price. I can recommend searching used mobile for sale on the link I’ve provided if you can’t wait and are interested in one of the 2015 models from the main manufacturers. You’ll get used and even some new handsets at a cheaper price than in the street shops.
